Sofia Margarita Vergara

Sofia Margarita Vergara, Spanish was born on 10 July 1972. She is an actress, presenter, producer, model and TV presenter from Colombia. Vergara was the highest-paid actor on American television from 2013 between 2013 and 2020. Vergara rose in prominence when she hosted two shows on Univision's Spanish-language TV network in the mid-90s. Her first major acting role in English was in the film Chasing Papi (2003). After that, she was in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's Comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009, which received an ALMA Award nomination). Her first role was as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in ABC's comedy series Modern Family in 2009. For her role, she was awarded four Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Additionally, she had voice-over roles in the animated films Happy Feet Two (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013) and The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was born into an Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla.  Her mother, Margarita Vergara de Vergara was a housewife, and her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher in the meat industry. Vergara was referred to as "Toti" by her siblings and many cousins. Vergara was a student for three years studying dental school at the National University of Colombia. But, she chose to leave two semesters early in order to pursue modeling and showbusiness opportunities.
