She was captain of both the 2012 "Fierce Five" and the 2016 "Final Five" U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics teams, who won their respective teams competitions.At the 2012 Olympics in London she was awarded gold medals in the floor and team competitions along with the bronze medal for the balance beam, making her the most recognized American gymnast in the Games. Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 to Pamela Morgan and Michael Morgan. She and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played a variety of sports as a child, but only began to play soccer at the age of 14. After graduating from high school, Morgan joined Cypress Elite's team. They took home the Coast Soccer League Under-16 championship and came in third place in the under-19 bracket. Morgan was able to continue to improve her soccer skills while at Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has selected Morgan to be an All-American Athlete. She also participated in the Olympic Development Program's state and regional divisions. Morgan advanced her soccer skills at UC Berkeley, where she played a key role in leading the California Golden Bears team in scoring from the very beginning of the season.
